The project is regional, with three beneficiaries; Albania – Montenegro – Macedonia.

The general objective is: Improving the implementation of legislation, regulations and management plans for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity in the lakes of Prespa, Ohrid and Shkodra in accordance with the objectives of environmental protection and biodiversity of the EU.

The main focus of the measures envisaged are the activities of water resource management and sustainable fishing, while the conservation of biological diversity is mainly established as a cross-sectoral issue.

The project will include 4 main areas:

  • Transnational cooperation;
  • EU Water Directive;
  • EU legislation on nature protection
  • Conservation and environmental monitoring of biodiversity.
